This is one of those reads that both parent and child will laugh over, as Papa chicken tries to read classic fairy tales to his daughter, only to be continually interrupted by her warnings to the characters to avoid foreseen danger, such as, "Don't go in there! She's a witch!"in Hansel and Gretel. In an attempt to foster his daughter's imagination, Papa chicken has her write her own story. The tender ending brings a peaceful close to this silly masterpiece with its enlivening illustrations.
